Genetics can play a role in anxiety disorders. People who have immediate family members who suffer from anxiety or depression may have a higher risk of developing an anxiety disorder or living with anxiety. CBT is a form of psychotherapy that has been found to be very helpful in many cases. For example, patients who experience anxiety in the course of everyday life often benefit from CBT in order to learn how to deal with their negative feelings in constructive ways. This form of psychotherapy has been found to help people overcome anxiety in a number of situations. However, CBT cannot cure anxiety in its entirety, but it certainly can help treat anxiety and help the patient to better deal with life in general.
